Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on the 10th of March 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real-estate brokerage. In 2001, the company was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran left the company shortly after. One of the show's original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in the entire 12 seasons of ABC's Shark Tank until today. In February of 2020, she had closed 53 deals. One of them was a $350,000 investment for Coverplay at 40 percent. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children in a middle class Irish-Catholic family. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly moving from one job to another throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family sometimes depended on free food delivery from a local, friendly grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father, a man who sometimes drank excessively, and treated her mother with disrespect and condescendingly, especially after he'd consumed a few drinks. Corcoran was a struggle throughout her education, later learning that she had dyslexia. Corcoran was a student at a Catholic primary school within her neighborhood and began the high school year at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. After failing several courses in her first year of high school, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School, where she graduated as a D student.
